Explosions In The Sky - End

"End" marks the band’s seventh, but not final, studio album.

Na, dann passiert rundherum ein lautes Aufatmen, weil der Titel eben nichts mit der derzeitigen Gesamtsituation der Post-Rock-Pioniere zu tun hat. Ganze sieben Jahre nach dem letzten Album geben Explosions In The Sky nun doch wieder ein Lebenszeichen von sich, natürlich in Form einer Langspielplatte, die man so auch von der Band aus Austin erwartet hat. Natürlich, was soll denn auch Unplanmäßiges passieren bei einer Band, die mittlerweile auch schon 25 Jahre auf der Uhr hat?

"Our starting point was the concept of an ending—death, or the end of a friendship or relationship. Every song comes from a story, or an idea one of us has had that we’ve all expanded on and made its own world. Maybe it’s our nature, but we kept feeling that the album title was ultimately open to a lot more interpretation—the end of a thing or a time can mean a stop, but it can also mean a beginning, and what happens after one thing ends might pale in comparison to what it becomes next."

'Ten Billion People', der Opener, spielt schon galant mit den der Band eigenen Vorzügen - elektronische Miniaturen treffen auf eine Wall Of Sounds, die gerade diesen Track mit einer Suspense anreichert, welche jenen zum Überflieger des Albums macht. Kraftvoll versiert dann auch 'Moving On' und 'Loved Ones', die, wie so Vieles in diesem Genre auch, aus den Blaupausen des Post Rock gezogen wurden. 'Peace Or Quiet' nimmt dann sein Anliegen ein wenig zu genau, lassen die Texaner es doch von da ab, bis auf gelegentliche Ausbrüche, eher ruhiger und bedächtiger angehen. Das Piano in 'It's Never Going To Stop' triggert einen dann auch noch in Richtung 65daysofstatic. Nur, dass dann eben nicht der Wahnsinn ausbricht sondern alles in seinen geordneten Bahnen verläuft. Aber, wie bestätigt - das Alles ist noch lange nicht das Ende…
